'Bronze it' this Summer...

When it comes to self tanning, I definitely think I can call myself a pro at it by now. Having tested so many different brands and products over the years, I have found some super amazing products, as well as had a fair share of botch ups too! (Yes, I have had to explain my orange skin tone and dirty looking hands at weddings and other big events, as I am most eager to test them out the day before).

My current favourite go to bronzer this summer, is DEFINITELY the 'Tropitone - Bronze it lotion'! I have found myself reaching for this bronzer endlessly this summer and am for sure going to be taking it into winter with me. Made with Manai Tahitian coconut oil, it not only leaves your skin feeling soft and nourished, but smell amazing too. Unlike many other self tanners I have used, which left me feeling dry and sticky, or with a pungent smell that lasted for days.

When reading the description on the bottle, it clearly states a 'natural tanned look', and this is EXACTLY what it does! It gives you a natural tan, that's one to two shades darker than your current tan. I used the shade 'Dark', which left me with a natural tan, two shades darker than my own. I was a little nervous to use it at first, as it was the darkest shade they had to offer, but it was perfect for my skin tone!

I know home tanners can be quite daunting, but you can't go wrong with this product, it's extremely easy to apply and contains milk extracts which help prevent streaking. It also gives you the option of building your tan, by simply applying it daily until you've reached your desired tan. With no harsh rays and a mere 4-6 hours, the lotion leaves you looking healthy and sun kissed!

Here are my tips for pre, and post application:

Please note:
I always apply my tanner directly after a shower and just before going to bed at night, this way I am able to let my tan gradually form over night.

Pre-application:
  • If you are waxing or shaving, make sure to wax the day before to ensure no wax residue is left on your skin.
  • Exfoliate your skin using a scrub or a loofah.
  • Make sure to brush your teeth before applying tanner, as you don't want any water drops to leave white blotches or smudges.
  • Make sure your skin is clean and dry before application.

Application:
  • Make sure to apply product evenly to the skin, the more lotion you apply, the darker your tan will be.
  • Avoid applying lotion underneath the feet, or to the eyebrows and hairline.
  • Keep it minimal when it comes to applying any self tanners or bronzers around your face, elbow and ankle areas.

Post-application:
  • Make sure to wash your hands directly after applying the tanner (I always wash the palms of my hands, and in between my fingers with a 'whitening toothpaste', to avoid yellow hands).
  • Avoid exercise, sweating and tight or light clothing while tanner is forming (If you are not about to jump into bed, opt for baggy trousers, flowy maxi dresses or boxy tops).
  • Once tanner is set, make sure to moisturise after every bath/shower to prolong your tan.
  • Avoid taking long baths/showers.
  • If you are looking to darken your tan, use the tanner daily until your desired tan is achieved.

Skirts for Spring/Summer 2016...

One of the simplest ways to create a more feminine look or add chicness to any outfit, is to style your look with a skirt. With plenty of variations to choose from this season, from minis, midis to maxis, you can opt for the one you are most comfortable with and still be on trend.

If you don't mind baring your midriff, pair a cropped top with a high-waisted a-line skirt to create a voluminous silhouette. A high-waisted skirt will instantly highlight your waistline, and give the illusion of a cinched waist.
